Dr. Wang Huamin was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Due to his excellent grades, he completed high school in the middle school affiliated to Zhejiang University in two years and was recommended to a mixed class of Zhejiang University (now Zhu Kezhen College of Zhejiang University), majoring in computer science, and was a classmate of Pinduoduo founder Huang Zheng.
In 2002, Wang Huamin obtained a bachelor's degree in computer science from Zhejiang University; in 2004, he obtained a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University in the United States; in 2009, he obtained a PhD in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States. After graduating from his Ph.D., Wang Huamin went to the University of California, Berkeley to engage in post-doctoral research. In 2011, Wang Huamin completed his postdoctoral research and joined Ohio State University as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science. In 2017, Wang Huamin was promoted to a tenured professor at Ohio State University.
