The Taiwan Trade Fair Organizing Committee recently announced that the 2010 Global Search Engine Marketing Conference will take place alongside the Taiwan Fair in Xiamen from April 9th to 10th. Supported by several major industry associations, including the Asian SEM Association, SEMPO Global Search Marketing Professional Association, North American Search Marketing Association, Taipei Internet Advertising and Media Management Association, the International Advertising Bureau (IAB), and Koelnmesse Exhibition Group, the conference aims to bring together global experts to discuss cutting-edge strategies in B2C marketing.
This year’s event is expected to feature more innovations than previous editions, as it aligns with the broader goals of the Taiwan Fair. The conference will focus on exploring how businesses can effectively leverage online platforms to reach consumers, with a special emphasis on search engine marketing, social media, and mobile internet.
One of the highlights of this year's conference is the introduction of a cross-strait Internet high-level forum. Renowned figures such as Mr. Zhan Hongzhi, Chairman of PChomeOnline Network Family International Information Co., Ltd., and Lin Siwu, General Manager of Aishe International, will participate, offering insights into the latest trends and innovations in the digital space across the Taiwan Strait.
Another key focus is the growing importance of B2C e-commerce. In 2009, China's online shopping market reached 267 billion yuan, accounting for 2.1% of total retail sales. While this represents significant growth—up 90.7% from 2008—the penetration rate remains lower compared to developed countries. With over 130 million online shoppers, the sector continues to expand rapidly, and the conference will provide valuable insights on how traditional businesses can successfully transition into the digital marketplace.
Additionally, the event will include case studies and practical sessions where industry experts will share real-world experiences and analyze B2C operations across various channels, including SEO, PPC, SNS, blogs, and mobile internet. Attendees will also have the opportunity for on-site website and advertising diagnostics, allowing them to receive immediate feedback and improve their online performance.
The conference is designed not only to enhance technical knowledge but also to foster stronger collaboration between online and traditional marketing approaches. By integrating new e-commerce strategies into the traditional exhibition model, the event aims to drive innovation and create new business opportunities in the digital age. The organizers believe that with the right tools and strategies, businesses can significantly boost their competitiveness and long-term success in an increasingly online-driven world.
