Shishi Garment City enters an unprecedented prosperity period with over 98% occupancy rate

Shishi Garments City has made remarkable progress following the completion of its third investment promotion round. Over 98% of the seven operational buildings are now fully occupied, with more than 2,400 business units operating within the complex. The first and second rounds of apparel markets near bus stations have been successfully relocated, and in the third round of selection, 1,446 merchants and 1,446 rental shops were assigned. The market currently employs over 10,000 people, reflecting a vibrant and growing commercial hub. During a recent visit to Building C in the southern part of the city, I witnessed a lively atmosphere. Shoppers were carrying numerous bags, moving through the mall’s corridors, scanning displays, and discovering new items constantly. “I didn’t expect Shishi Garments City to change so much,” one visitor said. “There are more products, more people, and it feels like something new happens every month.” Su Jing, who came from Nanping with her sister, shared that they used to specialize in children’s clothing. However, after noticing good pricing, they decided to open a new store selling men’s wear at the end of the season. In Emma Store, they tried on two jackets and asked for a price of 200 yuan. The shop owner, Zhang Haoming, eagerly offered them a big bag to take back to their store. “Business is much better here than in the old market,” he said. “Where there’s foot traffic, opportunities follow.” As we spoke, porters carried three packages of goods back to the store. Zhang estimated that these could be sold within two days. Since the integration of the old and new markets, transaction volumes have steadily increased, with most merchants reporting a 10% to 30% rise in sales. With the upcoming peak season, the growth momentum continues to strengthen. Since late August, Shishi Garments City has been carefully managing the relocation of merchants from the old urban wholesale market, in line with the requirements of the municipal government. This effort has ensured smooth operations and improved management. As more businesses settled in, the pressure on management increased, prompting the establishment of 24 new management systems. Improvements were also made to environmental cleanliness, food services, and parking facilities, enhancing the shopping experience. The market environment is becoming more standardized and has received praise from both domestic and international buyers. Cai Yashuang, a merchant from North Building C, remarked, “Now it's hard to find an empty shop!” She noted that after the third round of investment, fewer than 500 stores remained available, while registrations doubled. Many visitors this time did not manage to secure a space. When asked why so many merchants choose to come, she simply replied, “Because the traffic is high and the business is good.” According to the Shishi Garment Office, after the integration of the old and new markets, daily foot traffic has surged from 20,000 to 50,000 people. With the consolidation of urban wholesale resources into the garments city, it has entered an unprecedented period of prosperity. Amid the reform-driven momentum of Dalun District, the textile and clothing business circle centered around the garments city—linking fabrics, accessories, and machinery—is experiencing a golden age of growth.
