Vietnam exports $ 15.6 billion in textiles in 2011

According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam exported textiles worth 15.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, which is 38% higher than the previous year (2010), and it is the highest export value of textiles in Vietnam in the past five years.

The main reason is that the export price of textile products grew by 12% over the same period of the previous year, and textile exports to traditional markets all grew over the previous year. Among them, the growth rate was up to US (14%), Australia (41%) and Japan (52%).

According to the general manager of Vietnam Textile Group Lai Jin-Qiang, Vietnam’s biggest experience last year was to assess the market, adjust it to meet the needs of the market, and use the bilateral and multilateral trade agreements. The best example is the free trade agreement with South Korea. Korea surpassed $6.5 billion in textiles (only $4.6 billion in textiles before the inspection (2010)).

It is worth mentioning that, in the past, the raw materials of imported textiles accounted for a relatively high proportion of textiles exported. Over the years, although the import and export volume of textiles was high, the proportion of imported raw materials had gradually decreased, resulting in a dramatic increase in textiles.

In fact, it shows that the high and low export data of various industries is not enough to reflect the economic effect, and it is important to increase the proportion of self-made output value.
