liesl’s belgravia dress as a top

Hello there, sewing enthusiasts! I’ve been having a blast with some summer sewing projects lately, tinkering around with some of our patterns, and this one has turned out to be a real winner for me. It was inspired by a similar design I came across online, so I decided to get creative with our Belgravia Knit Dress pattern. By shortening the pattern and making a few tweaks, I ended up with this adorable, versatile knit top that I’ve been pairing with everything this season. ![Liesl's Belgravia Dress Adapted into a Top](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/d8e12c225b089034ac7a6180414e9259.jpg) The transformation was surprisingly easy. First, I cut the dress pieces at the lengthen/shorten line instead of going with the full-length pattern. Next, I adjusted the V-neck slightly to give it a more modern look. The original inspiration piece had a crew neck, but I’ve found myself gravitating toward V-necks lately as they feel more aligned with my personal style. ![Close-Up of the Adjusted Neckline](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/a1195499d676618dff527de32cd9d56b.jpg) Once the fabric was cut, the sewing process followed the same steps as the dress. I even hemmed the top in the same way, keeping things consistent. Voila! Another style variation created using the same pattern. In white, this top fits seamlessly into my staple summer wardrobe of black and white separates. Last week, I took a quick trip to Vienna with a small backpack, and this top paired beautifully with everything else I’d picked out. It was such a relief to have an outfit that matched everything, and I’ll definitely bring it along when we head back to the U.S. soon. ![Wearing the Top in Different Settings](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/225f2b266c658819b2b361e21fd5e05c.jpg) If you’re looking to try something new, you can grab your own copy of the Belgravia Knit Dress pattern right here.
